Whilst Basil took to the courts and the more underhanded methods of politics, Sorrel found himself between books and the battlefield. He displayed a potent talent for both the blade and spellcasting from a young age and, in contrast to his brother, found peace in the ascetism that was required of a squire. He has lead the house guard and forces for over a decade by now, inheriting the seat from a cousin after their untimely death.
Sorrel’s magical talent lies almost exclusively in the element of fire. His armour, whilst the same as any of the rest of his soldiers, is engraved by his own hand with flame iconography. His flamberge, Incandescence, is embedded with amber and agate in the hilt.
He was Lavender’s guide and mentor early on in her career and taught her concepts of balance, control, and discipline.
Sorrel, once he came of age, was sent to wander the land as a knight errant to hone his skills and broaden his horizons, with the company of March Sterling (†), Edith de Bessoc, and Alfred de Bessoc. Here, they generated some fame as a force for good, though they would return to the house when duty called for them. When they returned as a three rather than a four, this marked a turning point in Sorrel’s life; though he remains outgoing and personable, if still a firm and strict leader and tutor both, there’s a quieter edge to him that only formed after March’s death.
He has taken personal responsibility for his siblings. Lilith has a position as a staff member, whilst Garnet and Buck enlisted in the guard. Beb has disappeared.
