Bridgeport Mason

Character Overview

Race: Human

Class: Artisan / Stone Mason

Affiliation: necromancers (Formerly, via possession)

Location: Silvanus’ Beard

Status: Alive

The Bridgeport Mason is a well-built human artisan discovered in a secret workshop within the Bridgeport Warehouse. Under the influence of powerful necromancy, he was forced to create stone vessels and statues to house dark energy.

Biography & Personality

The Bridgeport Mason was found in a pale, possessed state, working on statues that acted as conduits for necromantic power. While under this possession, he showed a single-minded focus on his craft and reacted with hostility to intruders, using his masonry tools as weapons.

Upon the destruction of the Necromantic Idol by the party, the mason was freed from his possession. He was immediately overcome with grief and remorse, weeping and claiming he never wanted to perform the dark tasks forced upon him. He appeared confused regarding the passage of time and the specifics of his actions. He is currently residing with the druids at Silvanus’ Beard, where he is receiving care and protection from the enclave.

Campaign History

  • Entry 31 (The Warehouse Discovery): The party finds the mason working in the back of the Bridgeport Warehouse. Gage identifies that the man is pale and possessed. As the party approaches, the statues around him begin to animate.
  • Entry 32 (The Battle and Rescue): During the combat, the possessed mason attacks the party by throwing rocks and striking at Gage and Temerity with his hammer and chisel. Once Theren destroys the glowing idol on the workbench, the mason’s green eyes fade, and he collapses in tears. He expresses deep regret for being forced to place “things” inside the statues. After being healed by Anaphel, he is escorted out of the warehouse by the party. Lavender and Gage deliver him to Halsen at Silvanus’ Beard to ensure he is protected from the necromancers.

Key Relationships

  • Lavender: Escorted him to the druid enclave and ensured his safety after breaking the necromancers’ hold on the warehouse.
  • Gage: Suffered a mallet injury from the mason during the fight but later helped relocate him to safety.
  • Halsen: The druid leader currently providing him with sanctuary and healing.
  • Temerity: Provided motivational support and comfort to the mason immediately following the trauma of his possession.

Notable Equipment

  • Mason’s Tools: Used both for his craft and as improvised weapons (hammer, chisel, and mallet) during his possessed state.
