The rose acted as a beacon or source for a degenerative necromantic disease that actively drained the life essence of those in its proximity. The affliction primarily targeted the courier Loraleia, but the plague had begun to spread to other passengers on the vessel.

Lore & History

The Withered Rose was a cursed object discovered hidden inside a crate containing herbs and spell components within the cargo hold of the Paddle Steamer. During the investigation into the ship’s quarantined floor, the party traced the source of the magical plague to this crate. To end the threat, Temerity destroyed the rose by casting sacred flame, immolating it completely and stopping the further spread of the curse.
